The Alaska Department of Health, Division of Behavioral Health (DBH), in partnership with the Statewide Suicide Prevention Council (SSPC), has a strong history of advancing suicide prevention efforts across Alaska.
In May 2024, DBH and the SSPC hosted the second Alaska Suicide Prevention Conference, a free, two-day event that brought together professionals, advocates, and community members from across the state and beyond. The conference featured sessions on research, innovation, community-level prevention, postvention, and youth-focused interventions, while providing opportunities for networking and continuing education.
Later, in September 2025, DBH and the SSPC hosted the Alaska Youth Suicide Prevention Summit, a free, one-day event for Alaskans ages 13–19. The summit emphasized protective factors, resilience, and healthy coping strategies through interactive, youth-centered activities focused on emotional well-being.
Building on the momentum of these past events—and inspired by the theme Messages of Resilience: Breaking the Silence, Building Strength—we are pleased to announce our upcoming suicide prevention conference. This year’s event is one you won’t want to miss!
