Finding safe and stable housing remains one of the greatest challenges for people rebuilding their lives after incarceration, especially in Anchorage, where a criminal record often results in automatic rental denials.
When the door to housing is closed, individuals face a higher risk of both homelessness and recidivism, driving up costs to local, state, and federal systems while deepening cycles of instability.
This project seeks to change that by creating an engaging, hands-on educational workshop that equips individuals with the knowledge, education, and resources needed to successfully navigate the private rental market and secure stable housing. By building on existing community strengths and forming new partnerships with housing partners and community organizations, this initiative will bring people together to expand access, share solutions, and strengthen pathways toward safe, sustainable housing for all.
