Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a collaborative and empowering approach to support clients in behavior change. MI is an evidenced based treatment with over 1,200 clinical trials that support its efficacy. MI can be used to support clients in working toward behavior change, engagement in services, “rolling with resistance,” crisis intervention, and in brief encounters. In this 12-hour training, we will discuss and practice all of the foundational skills essential to the practice of MI. We will use real plays, role-plays and small group work to integrate MI skills into current practice. Participants will gain skills to empower clients to make even difficult and complex behavior changes. Chris Miles, LCSW, has been a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers since 2014.
