SUMMARY:Trauma Informed Care
DESCRIPTION:This training explores how a Trauma-Informed Care approach can support the work of Frontline workers across Alaska. Participants will learn concepts associated with the impact of various types of trauma and how that information affects critical interactions. In discussing trauma\, whether individual\, complex\, current\, historical\, or multi-generational\, participants will explore strategies to improve their work with the people they serve. This training will include an in-depth look at the impact of early childhood trauma on health and behavior through the Adverse Childhood Experiences Studies (A.C.E.S.) and the Positive and Compensatory Experiences (P.A.C.E.S.) proven to mitigate the effects of adversity and the building blocks of resilience. Examples of successful trauma-informed approaches to interactions and interventions will be explored in an interactive format through practice modules.

SUMMARY:All Alaska Pediatric Symposium
DESCRIPTION:The Pediatric Symposium brings together an exceptional lineup of local and nationally recognized experts\, leaders who are shaping the future of pediatric care. As Alaska’s only pediatric-focused networking and Continuing Medical Education (CME) event\, the Symposium serves as a dynamic hub for connection\, collaboration\, and professional growth. \nDesigned for Alaska’s dedicated community of health care providers and professionals\, the Symposium offers an engaging forum to explore evidence-based best practices\, emerging research\, and innovative advancements in pediatric health care. The 2025 Symposium featured a rich and wide-ranging agenda that reflected the most pressing issues facing children and adolescents today. Sessions explored topics such as Mental Health in Children and Youth in Alaska\, Hepatitis Vaccines\, Social Media and Teen Well-Being\, Pediatric Brain Tumors\, Youth Depression\, Adolescent Acetaminophen Overdoses\, Acute Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease in Alaska\, and Paths to Partnership: Tribal\, Federal\, and Academic Systems Working Together to Improve Indigenous Child Health along with many more thought-provoking discussions. \nEqually important\, the Symposium creates a rare and invaluable opportunity for providers to connect face to face. In a state as geographically vast as Alaska\, gathering in person fosters meaningful conversations\, strengthens professional relationships\, and sparks new collaborations across communities and disciplines. Attendees have the chance to exchange ideas\, share real-world experiences\, and build lasting partnerships that extend well beyond the conference itself. \nMore than a conference\, the Pediatric Symposium is a catalyst for innovation\, connection\, and progress advancing the health and well-being of Alaska’s children while strengthening the network of professionals dedicated to their care. \nThe 2026 Symposium agenda will be available in September. We look forward to welcoming you to another year of inspiration\, education\, and connection at the 2026 Pediatric Symposium.
